Removing/Installing Axle Seal
NOTE: This procedure can be performed on a
rear gear case.
1. Remove the seal using a seal removal tool.

NOTE: Prior to installing the seal, apply High-Per-
formance #2 Molybdenum Disulphide grease to the
seal outside diameter.
2. Using Gear Case Seal Installer Tool, evenly press the
seal into the cover bore until properly seated.

3. Repeat steps 1-2 for the opposite side.
INSTALLING DIFFERENTIAL
1. Place the differential assembly into position in the
frame; then install the top mounting cap screw, two
washers, and lock nut. Do not tighten at this time.
2. Install the lower differential mounting cap screw, washers,
and lock nut. Note the correct location for the washers.

3. Tighten the nuts to 38 ft-lb.
4. Pour 275 ml (9.3 fl oz) of SAE 80W-90 hypoid lubri-
cant into the differential and install the fill plug.
Tighten to 16 ft-lb.
5. Align the scribed match marks on the front input
drive flange and the front drive yoke flange; then
secure with the cap screws tightened to 20 ft-lb.

6. Install the front axles.
7. Install the knuckle assemblies onto the axles and ball
joints; then secure with four cap screws taking care not to
damage the threads when installing. Tighten to 35 ft-lb.

Make sure the tool is free of nicks or sharp edges or
damage to the seal may occur.
