6.4 Main Control Board
(See main circuit diagram Figure 6.5 overleaf)
The auxiliary transformer T1 powers the main control board.
The AMP male connectors J10 to J14 controls the firing of the SCRs.
J1
is connected to the potentiometer adjusting the weld power level.
J2
is the remote connector. Input to the control board.. Connect a 5k ohm between pin 12 (+15
V) and pin 14 (0V). The wiper is connected to pin 13 on the remote input.
J3
monitors the output current and the output voltage, the temperature of the transformer, the
main inductor, the fan and the output capacitor.
J4
monitors the temperature inside the input capacitor.
The PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) sensors are all connected in a serial daisy chain.
The resistance of each sensor, at room temperature, is approx. 100 ohms. When the PTC
sensor reaches its nominal temperature
,
its resistance value very quickly increases from 100
ohms to 2000 ohms. When the total resistance of the PTC sensor reaches 2500 ohms the
welder will stop and the pilot light will flash until the welder has cooled down.
J5
Monitors the Current Range Selector position.
J6
powers the pilot light or the Digital Voltmeter if this option is used.
J7
powers the fan.
J8
powers the control board.
J15
input for puddle control.
