Troubleshooting
Symptom Possible Causes Solution
The pump is noisy The water level of the sump is too
low for the reactor and the pump
does not suck in enough water to
work properly.
Restore the minimum recommended
water level in sump.
The pump intake is blocked. Dismantle the pump and check
that all its parts are in order. Check
the cleanliness and positioning of
the impeller and any presence of
limescale.
Lime and salt deposits and/or
natural wear
Replace the impeller
4. Check the Pump (K) monthly. If by lack of maintenance, the pump runs with the intake or
impeller blocked for extended periods of time due to debris or encrustations, it could cause
irreversible damage. The element™ M Reactor is designed with an external pump connected
by a compression ring for quick and easy maintenance.
To perform pump maintenance:
A. Disconnect the Pump (K) from the Support Base (A) by unscrewing its compression
ring.
B. Remove the pump intake cover from the Primary Pump (K).
C. Unscrew the TEAL colored ring in the front of the Pump (K).
D. Remove the Pre-chamber and impeller and rinse it under fresh water.
E. If salt or limescale deposits are present, it is recommended to clean the affected
parts with water and vinegar (away from the aquarium sump) using a soft brush
to remove the deposits. Do not use detergents or solvents that could damage the
product or be harmful to aquatic organisms.
F. Check the Pre-chamber O-ring; even a small amount of wear or damage can hinder
the performance of the pump. In this case, it is recommended to replace the O-ring.
G. Thoroughly rinse the pump and its parts before returning it to the reactor.
H. Assemble everything in the reverse order.
