Meters with accessories
The mounting position indicated in the mounting instructions of the accessories is to be respected.
Meters without accessories
Ringpiston meters ARD and VZTH can be mounted in horizontal, vertical or inclined position. Vane wheel meters AMD and PMD are always
to be mounted in horizontal position.
The layout of piping must ensure that the meter, in operating condition, is filled with liquid at all time and that no inclusions of air or gas
may occur. The quantities consumed by all the users must be registered by the meter.
Layout of meter and accessories
Lay out the meter and accessories according to the max. service conditions expected in the installation.
• Operating pressure and temperature according to type plate
• Ambient temperature -10...60 °C
• Resistance of the material in respect of measured liquid environmental conditions
• Flow rate
Flow meters are to be selected according to the flow rate and not according to the pipe diameter. If necessary, adapt the pipework.
Shut off devices
In order to avoid backflows and drainings, shut off devices have to be mounted after the meter. Backflows and drainings cause measuring
errors and can damage the meter.
Impurities in plant or liquid
Should impurities occur in the plant or in the liquid, a strainer (dirt trap) has to be installed before the meter. Maximum mesh width for
strainers/dirt traps:
ARD:
• DN 15 mm 0,10 mm
• DN 40 mm 0,25 mm
• DN 20 mm* 0,10 mm
• DN 50 mm 0,25 mm
• DN 25 mm* 0,25 mm
* Consider “Mounting of the meter into the pipeline, pressure check”
AMD and PMD:
A dirt trag is only necessary, if particles of 1- 2 mm occur in the liquid. Max. mesh width 0,8 mm. The filter mounted in the meter inlet is
only a safety filter and is too small to act as a strainer.
