1.1 Description of the function
Apart from the mechanical water treatment
(filter / pool hydraulics), it is vital to control hy-
giene parameters such as pH value and disin-
fectant levels. The classical method of manual
measurement and correction is time-consuming
and awkward. For the dosing unit to perform its
task, there are some basic conditions which have
to be met. They are described in these instruc-
tions. You can use the control unit only for pri-
vate swimming pools with a maximum water
volume of 65 m
3
.
1.2 pH-value and active oxygen
The pH value is a key indicator of whether the
water is acid, neutral or basic. A value of 7.2 has
been found to be optimal for people and for the
technology. Moreover, the disinfectants have
their maximum effect at 7.2.
Disinfection with active oxygen is especially ef-
fective in pools not very polluted (dirt, frequen-
cy of bathers, etc). Your pool professional must
install a bigger-sized filtration equipment, as this
alternative product has a poorer effect in com-
parison with chlorine. Water temperature should
not exceed of 28° Centigrade. With a higher
temperature, algae, viruses and bacteria can eas-
ily proliferate. Shall your hygiene parameters in
the pool not meet your demands (despite of a
regular dosing of active oxygen), we recommend
a hyperchlorination to disinfect the pool again.
Optimal pool hydraulics are just as important.
This is because no disinfectants can enter areas
where the water cannot be circulated. Algae
growth mainly starts in the corners and on the
bottom of the pool. Hence depending on the
amount of growth, walls and bottom have to be
cleaned mechanically occasionally. Dirt is col-
lected inside the pre-filters (skimmer / filter
pump) too, and must be removed regularly.
For the dosing unit to work optimally, the filter
unit must be switched on at least 10 hours per
day and backwash must be done at regular inter-
vals (1x per week). Fresh water input (automatic
or manual) occurs only outside the running
times of the filter, so that the untreated water
cannot influence the measurements taken by the
dosing technology.
1.3 Installation
The dosing unit must be installed in a dry room
with good ventilation. To avoid damage if the
system breaks down, there must be a drain of
sufficient size. The control unit is fixed to the
wall with the fixing screws included in the scope
of delivery.
Please ensure that the suction pipe of the dosing
pump is as short as possible. Hence the safety
cans are placed directly under the device. The
suction lances must be screwed in the chemical
tanks and connected to the control unit using
the plug. The injection valves for pH and disin-
fection are installed as shown on the installation
diagram. The test water pipe is to be connected
to the flow cell as shown in the installation dia-
gram.
The mains cable and the temperature sensor
have already been connected inside the con-
trol unit. The maximum permissible voltage
is 230 V. The mains socket must be sited as
close as possible to the device and inter-
locked with the filter pump, that is, the elec-
tric mains socket is allowed to be live only
when the filter pump is running. The swim-
ming pool installation is to be equipped
with a separate FI switch. Please observe
the official standards for wiring regulations
(i.e. German DIN VDE 0100) as well as lo-
cal standards. Ensure that the mains cable
and peripherals are not live during installa-
tion or maintenance work.
