Fill the aquarium and systemfilter with water up to the overflow and check all connections to be tight.
Turn the ball valves of the circulation pump on and start the pump. If there is water missing, refill it
manually immediately. Adjust the valve of the trickle filter to the requested flow. Before the UV-
sterilizer is taken into operation, let the system run for at least 45 minutes.

Operation
Check the pressure of the sand filter daily and if it rises (normal operation is 0.5 bar), the filter has to
be backflushed according to instructions. If the backflush is only done irregulary, the filter may be
blocked after some time so it is impossible to flush it back. It has to be openend then and cleaned by
hand – or even changed completely. Before backflushing, set the 3-way-valve to “backflush” and
afterwards back to “overflow”.
The circulation pump has to be cleaned in regular intervals as well. Close the valve before the pump is
opened.

Turboflotor 10000
Protein skimmer for large aquaria up to 10,000 liters
5.1. Application:
The Turboflotor 10000 is designed for larger tanks in public aquaria and for commercial use for pet
fish importers and distributors. It is used for closed aquaculture systems such as import or export
holding units for lobster, crayfish and oysters, as well as for fish breeding or growing on fingerlings of
commercial fish or shrimp.
5.2. Basics
During the protein skimming process, organic pollutants in the aquarium water i. e. protein
compounds formed by the excretions of animals, are attached to fine air bubbles as a mono-molecular
film. These air bubbles are pushed against the inflowing water in the reaction pipe so that there is a
long contact time. Enriched with organic substances, they rise to the top and form a strong foam
which is dehydrated in the reaction pipe and then passes into the collection cup. Using this method,
removal of organic pollutants from the aquarium water takes place whereas during bacterial processes
they are merely transformed and not removed.
