2.6

CHECKING THE ELECTROLYTE BATTERY LEVEL

The vehicle is equipped with a maintenance-free battery, which does not
require any check of the electrolyte level.

2.6.1

RECHARGING THE BATTERY

NOTE 

You can tell that the battery is nearly flat when you hear a rattling

sound from the starter relay when pressing the starter button "

".

Do not remove the battery plugs or the battery may damage.

"

Remove the battery, see  6.1.9 (REMOVING THE BATTERY).

"

Prepare an appropriate battery charger.

"

Set the charger for the desired type of recharge (see table).

"

Connect the battery to the battery charger.

Charge or use the battery in a well-ventilated place. Do not inhale the
gases produced by the battery under charging.

"

Switch on the battery charger.

Reassemble the battery only 5/10 minutes after disconnecting the
recharge apparatus, since the battery continues to produce gas for a
short lapse of time.

INSTALLING THE BATTERY.

"

Ensure the main switch is in the "

" position.

"

Remove the seat, see  6.1.1 (REMOVING THE SEAT).

NOTE 

The battery must be positioned in its compartment with the terminals

directed towards the right side of the vehicle.

"

Place the battery in its compartment.

"

Refit the battery securing elastic band (1).

On refitting, connect the positive (+) lead first, then the negative (-) lead.

"

Connect the positive terminal (+) with its screw.

"

Connect the negative terminal (-) with its screw.

"

Cover the terminals of the cables and of the battery with neutral grease or
vaseline.

"

Put back the red protection element (2).

"

Refit the seat.
