Structure and operation
1.5.1
Operation of the Device is based on recording the fact of short circuit current
in the controlled line. Electromagnetic field of current in the line is perceived by current
sensors based on Rogowski coils mounted on high-voltage cable on phase conductors A,
B, C in the switchgear and control gear cell. The line voltage is recorded by the switchgear
and control gear cell voltage transformers or from the support insulators with integrated
capacitive or resistive dividers. The Device measures instantaneous values of current and
voltage, calculates the value of current and voltage amplitude, compares the obtained
values with the values of the settings, carries out analysis of parameters. In case of
exceeding the setpoints, the Device determines the type of fault on the basis of the
received data and activates an appropriate indication of the emergency situation.
1.5.2
The reading out of the Device settings, events and oscillograms, so as the
software update is made via Ethernet according to IEC 60870-5-104.
1.5.3
The Device saves in the internal memory the fault detection time (to the
nearest second), the maximum and minimum current values measured during the fault
recording, type of short circuits, and switches to the line diagnostics mode. The Device
stores the data of 240 previous events in its memory.
1.5.4
Values of measured parameters stored in the Device memory can be
transferred via the MODBUS protocol (description of the protocol registers is given in the
appendix "The Command System of feeder monitor Lodestar FM-CS
for Cable Lines
based on the MODBUS Protocol").
