3.3.3
Pumps with V-belt drive (HZ, H with stub shaft)
Check and correct the alignment of the V-belt pulleys and belt
tension before pourring in and under the baseplate. After tight-
ening the foundation bolts, the shaft must be free to be turned
by hand without any tight spots (construction with packed
glands: Packed glands must be slackened for this test!).
3.3.4
Vertical pumps with flexible coupling and lantern
mounted motor (SL arrangement)
• Provide steel mounting plates under the pedestals complete
with foundation bolt holes and tapped holes for pedestal fixing
bolts.
• Fasten the set, including the steel mounting plate, to the con-
crete plinth using foundation bolts.
• Align the pump (see para. 3.3.1).
Place steel mounting plates under the pedestals.
• Pour the foundation bolts with cement and allow to set.
• Fill spaces under the plates with non-shrinking cement mor-
tar.
Pumps supplied without motor:
• Adjust the axial clearance between the coupling halves of the
flexible coupling (see para. 3.3.2.1 Table 1). Further align-
ment of the coupling is not required.
• Fasten both coupling halves in the shaft journals with the grub
screws to prevent axial displacement.
3.3.5
Vertical standing pumps, drive via cardan shaft
(SG)
Observe the instructions specific to the type of shaft drive sup-
plied.
• The pump may installed on a single foundation block, provid-
ed with a relief in order to accommodate the inlet pipework, or
on two separate blocks (1).
• The foundations should be adequately dimensioned for the
weight and centre of gravity of the pump, the power of the mo-
tor and the vibration characteristics of the complete pump set.
• For installation and alignment of the pumps on the founda-
tions refer to para. 3.3.4.
• The motor should be carried on a support plate or frame (2)
over the opening in the structural floor (3).
• Position the motor so that the pump and motor shafts are ex-
actly in line. If site conditions make this impossible a deviation
of the drive shaft of 5° from the vertical is acceptable.
• The dimensions between motor and pump shaft ends speci-
fied on the assembly drawing must be adhered to.
• Pack the motor support plate/frame so as to achieve this di-
mension.
• Grout in the foundation bolts and allow to harden.
• Tighten foundation bolts.
• Installation of motor on a concrete floor: Grout the motor sup-
port plate/frame.
• Provide guarding (4) to the drive shaft assembly in accord-
ance with the regulations concerning accident prevention.
3.3.6
Pourring and other final checks
• After aligning and fixing the pump set in position, pour the
baseplate with rapid hardening, non-shrinking cement mortar
and consolidate it.
• Allow to set for at least 48 hours.
• Retighten the foundation bolts.
• Check the alignment of pump and motor.
• Correct differences by underlaying sheets. Do
not exceed remaining inaccuracy of 0.03 mm
referring to a measured circle diameter of
200 mm.
• Correct discrepancies by displacing resp. un-
derlaying of corresponding sheets in order not
to surpass a remaining inaccuracy of 0.03 mm.
Refer to table 1 for adjusting the axial distance
between the coupling halves (dimension ‚c').
• It's a simple way to combine both measure-
ments. The dial gauges are inserted into the
corresponding borings of the flat bar elements
screwed-on or clamped, and then they are
fixed by e.g. studs.
