Another common representation of the Dhrystone benchmark is the
DMIPS (Dhrystone MIPS), obtained when the Dhrystone score is divided
by 1,757 (the number of Dhrystones per second obtained on the VAX
11/780, nominally a 1 MIPS machine).
The -O3 option includes function inlining which is considered “illegal”
with the Dhrystone benchmark. There are a specific set of rules to Dhrys-
tone, defined by the Embedded Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC), so
the -O3 results should be taken for informational purposes of what advan-
tage -O3 can give, not for published results of DMIPS.
