Warning!

This kit has the potential to be connected to, or generate, high voltages and currents, and high localized temperatures that could cause injury or death to the assembler, operator or end user.
This kit is solely intended as study material for aesthetic and educational purposes. However, should the assembled kit be accidentally or deliberately connected to a source of mains electrical power, potentially lethal voltages and currents could exist within the assembled unit.
This kit must only be assembled by a suitably experienced and qualified electrical or electronic engineer under proper supervision and with suitable safety precautions in place. Ensuring the experience and qualifications criteria are fully understood and complied with is the whole responsibility of the assembler.
Ensuring that this unit is not operated in a way which could cause injury or death is wholly the responsibility of the assembler, operator or end user.
In assembling this kit, you are accepting that all the above warnings and necessary qualifications are understood and complied with and the assembly is at your own risk.

Should this unit be accidentally or deliberately connected to a source of mains power, the following precautions should be observed.

High voltages and currents and localized temperatures will be present on many of the components which could cause injury or death. Voltages in excess of 390v dc and 270v ac may exist even after the source of mains power has been removed. These potentially lethal voltages may be present on many of the components for several
minutes after the power source has been removed. Voltages at the appropriate test points should be carefully measured with suitable test equipment to ascertain the safe or unsafe status of the unit. If the unit has been assembled incorrectly, the capacitors may also represent an explosion risk.

General assembly tips.

1] Take your time. (It is a lot quicker to get it right first time than get it wrong and have to perform corrective measures).
2] Use a suitably powerful soldering iron to ensure that the solder flows properly. This is particularly important for the contacts which are attached to the ground plane and the heatsink securing pins.
3] Ensure that the capacitors are fitted the correct way round as reversing their polarity could be potentially hazardous.
4] Don’t overtighten the chassis screws else you will never get them out again.

If in doubt ask !
