Upgrading Cache Memory
If your Apollo Pentium PCI ISA motherboard has 256 KB of secondary cache memory, you can upgrade to
512 KB of cache memory. See the following steps.
Cache Type
Use 3.3V SRAM in the cache memory sockets. The recommended 15 ns 3.3V 64 KB x 8 DIPs are:

Upgrade Steps
Step
Action
1
Turn the system off. If the motherboard is already installed in a
computer case, remove the cover and expose the motherboard.
2
Make sure you are properly grounded to prevent electrostatic
discharge.
Remove the DIPs in sockets M1 through M8. See the
drawing on the previous page for the M1 through M8 locations.
3
Install the new 64 KB x 8 3.3V SRAM DIPs in sockets M1
through M8. Make sure that Pin 1 of the sockets matches Pin 1 of
the SRAM DIPs. The end of the DIP that has a notch or a dot
indicates Pin 1. Pin 1 of the socket is printed on the motherboard
and is indicated on the motherboard drawing on the previous page.
Press the DIPs firmly but slowly into each socket.
4
Install a
5V 32 KB x 8 SRAM DIP
in M9. M9 is the tag RAM
socket.
