OPERATING THE CRANE
B.7.1
PRELIMINARY CHECKS BEFORE OPERATION
Before using the crane check that
- crane's structure, safety devices and safety signs are intact.
- there are no parts on the equipment which have not been checked or are not permitted.
- hydraulic system, couplings, valves, safety devices and indicators are efficient.
- there are no oil leaks.
- status of maintenance, coupling and tightness of hooks, shackles, cables, chains, fixing screws,
screws, nuts, bolts, pins and lifting equipment is perfect.
- oil filters are not clogged.
- oil level in the tank is above the minimum level.
- there is enough fuel in the tank of vehicle.
- vehicle is blocked with parking brake and wheel chocks
- all unauthorised personnel are outside the crane's working area.
- lifting component is suitable and intact.
- stability control system is functioning (only for CE cranes): check that the leds of proximities
mounted on crane base and on additional stabilizers are ON when the crane is correctly
stabilized.
- ground can support the maximum pressure of stabilizer feet (see D.1).
- all safety measures are properly executed (see A)
- service conditions are fulfilled (see B.3.3)
If any of the above conditions is not fulfilled, stop work immediately, perform the necessary
maintenance and if necessary contact an authorised assistance centre.
B.7.2
START-UP OPERATION
The operator must follow this procedure:
- Take the engine to the speed recommended by the installer for the crane. Push the clutch and
engage the power take-off; release the clutch gradually.
Never accelerate over the speed recommended with the power take-off engaged because the
power take-off might break and the operational speed of the crane would exceed the speed
considered for the structural test on the machine.
Operating the crane at a speed exceeding the rated one might cause a serious accident and the risk
of breakage due to fatigue is higher.
Moreover for CE cranes
- Feed the electric installation of the crane.
Moreover for RDC cranes
- Turn on the electric power supply of the crane
The crane is now ready for operation.
