SAFETY REGULATIONS
TO BE FOLLOWED WITH ATTENTION
A) PRELIMINARY
1) Read the instruction book carefully. Familiarise
yourself with the controls and correct use of the
lawnmower. Learn how to stop the motor quickly.
2) Use the lawnmower for what it was intended, that
is to say, the cutting and collection of grass. Other
uses may be dangerous and cause damage to the
machine.
3) Remember that the operator is responsible for
damage or injury to persons and or things.
4) Never use the lawnmower in the following cases:
- in the presence of other persons, in particular
children, or animals;
- if the operator is under the infl uence of medicines
or drugs that may effect refl exes and concen-
tration
5) The lawnmower must never be used by children or persons
that are unfamiliar with the instruction book. Local laws
may impose a minimum age to use the lawnmower.
B) START UP AND USE
1) Before use check the lawnmower carefully, par-
ticularly the blade. Check the blade assembly for
damage or wear and that all nuts and screws are
tight. In order to maintain blade balance, change
worn blades or screws.
2) Before use, check that the protections at the grass
expulsion point are in position (grass collector or
defl ector).
3) Before starting the motor, fi x the cable onto the cable
hook.
4) Check the cutting area carefully and remove any
objects that could be thrown by the mower (stones,
twigs, metal wire, bones, etc.)
5) When using the mower, always wear protective
footwear and long trousers. Never start the mower
while bare footed or wearing sandals.

ATTENTION: DANGER! PETROL IS HIGHLY
INFLAMMABLE:
- in the case of petrol spills, do not start the
engine. Move the mower away from the area
of the petrol spill and avoid fi re hazards until
the petrol has evaporated and that the petrol
vapours have disappeared;
- fi ll the petrol tank before starting the engine.
Never fi ll the tank o remove the petrol tank cap
while the engine is running or still hot;
- fi ll the petrol tank using funnel in well ventilated
area. Do not smoke while fi lling the tank or
handling petrol;
- always replace the cap on the petrol tank and con-
tainer. Make sure that they are closed tightly;
- store petrol in suitable containers.
Never smoke or use naked fl ames in the presence of
petrol or petrol vapours.
C) USING THE MOWER
1) Always work in daylight or in a well lit area.
2) Avoid, if possible, using the mower under the rain
and cutting wet grass.
3) Never start the mower in closed spaces, where dangerous
carbon monoxide fumes may accumulate.
4) Never start the mower if there are signs of damage
to the chassis or when the grass collector or defl ector
is not in position.
5) For self-propelled mower, disengage the drive
before starting the engine.
6) Do not tilt the mower while starting the engine.
Always start the engine on a fl at surface free of
objects and long grass.
7) Start the motor with caution following the instructions
carefully. Keep feet away from the blade.
8) Always make sure to have a good foot hold on
slopes.
9) Always cut the grass lenghtways along the slope
and never up and down the slope.
10) Never cut the grass on gradients over 20°.
11) Pay attention when changing direction on slopes.
12) Do not lift or carry the mower while the motor is
running.
13) Stop the motor if the mower has to be tilted to one
side, when crossing surfaces without grass or when
taking the mower to and from the work area.
14) While cutting the grass, always keep to a safe
distance from the turning blade, governed by lenght
of the handle bar.
15) Pay attention while polling the mower back towards
yourself.
16) Keep hands and feet away from turning blades,
keep to a safe distance from the grass discharge
area.
17) Do not run, but walk at a normal pace avoiding
being pulled by the mower.
18) Do not modify the engine settings and do not allow
the engine to reach excessive revs.
19) Reduce the engine speed before stopping the en-
gine. Following the instruction book for the engine,
close the petrol supply when fi nished working with
the mower.
20) Stop the engine:
- each time the mower is left unattended. For
electric start mowers, also remove the key;
- before adjusting the cutting height;
- when removing or replacing the grass col-
lector;
- before fi lling the petrol tank.
21) Stop the engine and remove the spark plug cap:
- before carrying out work or repairs under the
cutter deck or un-blocking the discharge chu-
te;
- before checking clearing or working the
mower;
- before checking the mower for damage after
