Application examples access control system (Proximity Reader)
Example 1: residential
The most simple application for the NG Proximity Reader is a simple access control system for a residential
site.
On the front door a magnetic contact is placed (MC1, delayed,
section A, zone 1). In the entrance an LCD/PROX keypad (KP1,
buzzer section A) and a PIR detector (PIR1, follower, section A,
zone 2) is placed. Outside a Proximity Reader is placed (PR1,
section A, OC output not used, triggers entry delay YES, last door
function YES). The front door is equipped with an electric door
strike, which is controlled by an RO module.
Section A is armed. The occupant arrives and presents his Tag
(section A, level 7) to the Proximity Reader at the front door. The
entry delay times of zones 1, 2, 3 and 4 begin to countdown, the
buzzers on keypads 1 and 2 begin to beep and the RO module is
activated, so that the door can be opened. The occupant then enters
the entrance and presents his Tag to keypad 1. The control panel
disarmes section A and the keypad buzzer go silent.
When the occupant leaves his house, he presents his Tag at keypad
1, and the control panel armes section A. The buzzers of the
keypads beep, to alert the occupant that the exit delay has started.
When the occupant has closed the front door, he presents his Tag
to the Proximity Reader. By this, he immediately stops the exit
delay, and the buzzers go silent. Because the last door function is
programmed as YES, the RO module will not be activated during
the exit delay (otherwise the door would be opened again).
To expand the system, the kitchen entry can also be supplied with
a Proximity Reader (PR2, OC output not used, triggers entry delay
YES, last door function YES). On the back door a magnetic
contact is placed (MC2, delayed, section A, zone 3), and in the
kitchen an LCD/PROX keypad (KP2, buzzer section A) and a PIR detector (PIR2, follower, section A, zone
4) is placed. The back door is equipped with an electric door strike, which is controlled by an RO module
(RO2). The functioning is now identical to the front door, so it does not matter if the occupants enter their
house at the front or back side.
Example 2: Divided premises with a common entry
This is classic example in which employees use a common entry to access the different departments. When
there are no Proximity Readers used, the following problem will occur.
‘Old’ situation problem
Employee A arrives and opens the common front door, causing the entry delay to countdown. Employee A
then disarmes his section, and enters his department. Then Employee B arrives, and opens the front door.
Because Employee A disarmed his section and the common zone (front door and hall), Employee B is not
attended by the keypad’s buzzer. Other measurements must be taken to prevent Employee B entering his
armed department and thus creating a false alarm.
