Starting and Testing the ATS System (Continued)
Step 3: Test the System

Turn off the upstream circuit breaker.
The Output LED flashes and the LCD
displays “BATT”, showing it is operating
on battery power.
The ATS switches to 1800 TP power.

Watch the Alarm LED. If it turns on or
flashes, follow this troubleshooting se-
quence:
1) Investigate the alarm (Sections 3.8, 3.9).
2) Do a self test with the load(s) connected.
3) If it passes the self test, see that the
load(s) are operating normally.
4) See the troubleshooting chart in Section
5.2.
5) Contact Alpha Technologies’ technical
support department
If the unit is overloaded, recalculate the
size of the load (Section 2.1).

Turn on the upstream circuit breaker.
Within 30 seconds the ATS switches back
to line power.
The Output LED is on and the display
shows “LINE.”
Start Up Finished
TIP: There are four ways to start the self test:
1) Press down both test buttons on the control panel.
2) Start it via the Control submenu.
3) Via the RS–232 Maintenance submenu.
4) Via the Status/Self Test terminal block’s self test
contacts.
All are described in Section 3.2.
