5.10 Washing And Chopping Root Crops
With the machine stopped add the root material to be washed and chopped.
Ensure that there are no stones or foreign objects hidden in the roots.
1. Add water at approximately 300 kg (660 pounds) per tonne of material
to be chopped. Rotate the machine for 1-2 minutes at 6 rpm.
2. Park the machine on an incline, open the wash gate and allow the water
to drain off.
3. It may be necessary to repeat this if materials being chopped are
particularly dirty.
4. Chop the materials by running the machine at 8+ revs.
For low usage, best results are achieved by chopping sufficient material for 2 days.
