’ sign to expand the DVR channels, then double click on a channel
to display a picture. Alternatively double click the Alien Icon to display all channels.
The local connection is now working.
34. Before going to the remote site, you need to find out what the public address of
the router is. This can be found by using a PC connected to the router and firing up
Google and entering “
Whats My IP.
” This will return the public address of the router
by opening one of the records found. Make a note of this address.
Remote Connection
35. Go to the remote site and load the client software to the PC used for the remote
connection.
36. Now run CCTVWindow and setup a similar entry to the local setting described
above, steps 24 to 32, but instead of entering the local IP address, you need to enter
the remote IP address as per step 34. If you are using the AlienDDNS service
the dynamic name
<dvr serial no>.ippostcode.com
must be entered in
CCTVWindow. This is explained below.
37. Launch CCTVWindow.
38. Enter user
admin
password
666666
39. Click on Setup.
40. In left hand column using mouse, double click the Alien Icon with eyes, to the left
of the DVR name eg: ‘DVR No 1’
41. Modify Device Information window will be displayed
42. Change Register Mode from Normal IP to Normal Domain.
43. Enter the dynamic name
<dvr serial no>.ippostcode.com
in Normal Domain.
44. Ensure username and password are the same as that used to access the DVR
menu. User is
admin
and Password by default is
555555
.
Port number is
8240
.
Set channel number to number of channels on DVR.
45. Click on the
Preview
tab.
46. Click on the ‘
+
’ sign to expand the DVR channels, then double click on a channel
to display a picture. Alternatively double click the Alien Icon to display all channels.
The remote connection is now working.
47. Note that you must use the local IP address for connecting locally ie: using the
network in the building where the DVR is located. Conversely, you use the remote IP
address or dynamic name of the router when your PC is remote.
