BASE CiRCUiT
Assemble the circuit as shown in the diagram
By pushing the switch, you close the electric circuit and let the current
pass from the positive to the negative pole and the bulb lights up. As
soon as you take your finger off the switch, the current can no longer
pass and the bulb turns off.
BASE CiRCUiT wiTH fLYiNG SAUCER
Use the same circuit you made in the last activity (Activity 1) and
replace the bulb with the motor. Add the disc block to the motor
axis and place the flying saucer on top. Press the switch and
only take your finger off when the disc is going quite fast.
As soon as you take your finger off the switch, you will see a
real flying saucer!
WARNING!
Make sure you have plenty of space around you while doing this
activity. Carry out this activity well away from breakable objects. Keep your face away
from the saucer when it is moving. Do not point the flying saucer at people, animals or
objects. The presence of an adult is recommended while carrying out this activity.
BASE CiRCUiT wiTH NEwTON’S OpTiCAL DiSC
Replace the flying saucer from the last activity (Activity 2) with
Newton’s optical disc. Open and close the circuit and observe what
happens. The colours on the disc disappear when it reaches
a certain speed.
