DiODES
Diodes
are electric components
with two terminals, known as
the
anode
and the
cathode
.
Diodes are a little bit like a
funnel as they only go in one
direction. You can see in the
diagram that if the funnel or
diode are put the opposite way
up, the water or current cannot
flow through correctly. Diodes,
like funnels, are used to slow
down the flow that
passes through them.
If 3 Volts of electric
energy go into the
diodes, the energy is
then reduced by 0.6
Volts and therefore
we have 2.4 Volts of
energy as it leaves.
Today, diodes are used
in many common
electric objects as
they reduce the flow
of the electric current.

THE ELECTRiC mOTOR
An electric motor can transform electric power into mechanical
power. The electric current supplied by a generator and sent to
the rotor coils, interacts with the magnetic field radiated from the
magnets of the stator and generates a force that makes the motor
shaft rotate.
