CRC
Cyclic Redundancy Check. Coding used to confirm the bitstream integrity. For
3G/HD-SDI signals each line of video includes coding for confirmation that the line
content is correct.
DVB-ASI
Asynchronous Serial Interface. An asynchronous serial interface for DVB streams that is
one of the principal formats for transmission of MPEG-2 streams over cable.
DVB-T
DVB - Terrestrial. The standard created by the DVB for terrestrial television broadcasting.
GPI
General Purpose Input. This is a signaling and control interface that receives
information through detection of the open or closed status of an external circuit. The
information is received from a device at the other end of the line, typically employing a
GPO interface.
GPIO
General Purpose Input/Output. General purpose signaling interface that can operate as
an input (GPI) or output (GPO).
GPO
General Purpose Output. This is a signaling and control interface that transmits
information via closure of a contact. A GPI input is typically used at the other end of the
line.
MIP
Megaframe Initialization Packet. A transport stream packet multiplexed into a DVB-T
stream that allows synchronization of the various transmitters that make up a single
frequency network (SFN).
TS
Transport Stream. Data stream that includes one or more compressed audio and video
signals together with ancillary data. Typically used in television broadcasting.
