ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

ELECTROCUTION
Carry out all electrical connection and installation work in
accordance with relevant national and local regulations,
including NFPA 70, National Electric Code.
This appliance is only for use on a 120-volt AC electrical circuit. Any
other use may cause damage to the appliance.
There are no serviceable parts inside the appliance. This
appliance should not be serviced after installation.
Corded Installation Models (SEHCB/SEHCW)
•
Ensure that the on/off switch is in the OFF (“O”) position.
•
Plug into a nearby electrical wall outlet/receptacle.
•
The cord has a plug as shown at A in Figure 6. An adapter as shown at C
is available for connecting three-blade grounding-type plugs to two-slot
receptacles. The green grounding lug extending from the adapter must be
connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box.
The adapter should not be used if a three-slot grounded receptacle is
available.
•
Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners,
or similar coverings. Do not route cord under furniture or appliances.
Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
•
Connect to properly grounded outlets only.
•
Always plug the appliance directly into a wall outlet/receptable. Never use
with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).
Hard-Wired Installation Models (SEHNB/SEHNW)
Hard-wired installation models should not be installed by retail
customers.
In case of ROMEX®
wire, install ½” ROMEX
® connector in wiring access hole.
In case of Greenfield®
, install 1/2” Greenfield
® connector.
•
Remove the two tamper-resistant screws at the bottom of the unit to remove
the front cover.
(Note: This will require the use of a T15 tamper-resistant pin-in-Torx bit.)
•
Route electrical cable through the wiring access hole to the terminal block.
See Figure 7.
(Note: This appliance requires the use of 14AWG copper wiring.)
•
Secure line and neutral wires in terminal block where indicated. Tighten
terminal block screws to 5.5 lbf

in minimum.
•
Secure ground wire underneath green ground screw. Ensure that ground
wire is secured and retained within the terminal cup washer provided. See
Figure 7.
•
Replace the front cover, and secure with the two tamper-resistant screws.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

before use.
Intended Use
This electric wall heater is suitable as a supplementary heat source in small,
dry, residential areas such as living spaces, work rooms, etc.
The appliance is not intended for installation outdoors or in wet locations such
as bathrooms, washrooms, etc. Do not install or use this appliance in wet or
outdoor locations.
This appliance is only intended for use on its supplied mounting bracket for
wall installation. Do not install or use this appliance apart from the provided
bracket.
Initial Startup
•
Activate
the on/off switch on the right side of the unit to the ON (“I”) position.
The switch will light when activated.
•
Turn the thermostat knob clockwise until the desired thermostat setting is
reached.
(Note: The thermostat setting controls ambient room temperature, not the
output air temperature of the appliance. The appliance will continue to run
until the temperature of the room has reached the thermostat setting.)
