Source Modules
What is a DFB Laser Source Module?
A distributed feedback (DFB) laser is a highly-coherent laser source
that emits radiation in a narrow spectral width. The Agilent
Technologies range of DFB laser source modules may be tuned within
a specific wavelength range, the current wavelength is displayed on
the user interface of your mainframe. The wavelength of the ITU
channel your module supports is displayed on the front panel, see
Figure 3.

To insert these modules into your mainframe see your mainframe’s
User’s Guide.
How to Enable/Disable Laser Output
This indicates whether the module is emitting radiation. If the State
parameter is On, the green LED on the front panel of the module is lit
indicating the laser is active. If the State parameter is Off, green LED
on the front panel of the module is unlit indicating the laser is
inactive. You can switch the module by pressing the Active button on
the front panel of the module.
