7. MAINTENANCE

NECO takes pride in choosing quality vendors and products in association with the design and

manufacture of our products:

• OEM products have a service life related to operating conditions and usage.

• Contact the OEM product manufacturer for service, replacement, or warranty concerns.

Prior to each season or usage:

Check for obstructions in the spreader which could prohibit product flow.

Check fasteners & bolted connections. Tighten any loose connections and fittings.

• Check wiring connections. Tighten any loose connections.

• Verify the speed and directional controls are working properly prior to actual usage.

• #032253 DRIVE MOTOR - Due to the harsh environment, the drive motor type is a heavy duty

totally enclosed system. The factory suggests using Shell Dolium R or Chevron SRI grease

and recommends service intervals no greater than 500 hrs of run-time usage. Pump grease

slowly, using only a hand-operated grease gun, not a pneumatic grease gun. Do not over-lubri-

cate motors. Over-lubrication of a motor can seriously damage it by forcing grease into motor

windings.

#032295 GEAR REDUCER - These units utilize synthetic lubricant and are properly filled,

based on the unit series and the mounting position. Per the vendor supplied data -- “reducers

are ‘lubed-for-life’ and do not require regular oil changes under normal industrial operating

conditions and environments. If the customer chooses to change out the lubrication, the

manufacturer reccommends using Mobil GLYGOYLE 460 lubricant.

• #032244 COMPRESSION SPRING(S) - If replacement of any one of the three is needed,

change all three as a set to ensure uniform action.

Follow all safety procedures as outlined in the SAFETY section of this manual.

Use Lock-Out / TagOut procedures when required and ensure all guards are in place.
