OPERATION
5 Bar and 8 Bar Spike Tooth Harrows
The tooth angle is preset and cannot be changed.
However, the front bar angle can be changed by
reversing the tow lugs (C).
Harrow adjustments are made by adjusting the
length of the tow chains (A).
For maximum leveling and clod breaking, adjust the
tow chains to allow the entire harrow to pull level
with the ground. The lift chains (B) will be loose
during operation.
Lengthening the tow chains to the point where the lift
chains have tension on them during operation, tends
to lift the entire harrow. In some conditions, this can
be helpful in reducing residue plugging.
Shortening the tow chains tends to lift the front of the
harrow. In some conditions, this can be helpful in
reducing residue plugging.
Note: The lift chains can be shortened to gain some
harrow transport height. Be careful not to shorten
the chains too much so that the operation of the
harrow is affected.
