4.2 Level adjustment for the use as a
monitor speaker
The level of monitor or sound reinforcement
speakers is usually adjusted by the mixing console.
For this application the following basic settings of
the
AG8
3
are recommended:
•
line, bass, treble, master
in center position
•
mic and aux
fully anticlockwise
If these settings are used, the input voltage at
line in for rated output power will be 1 V.
4.3 Level adjustment for use as
amplifier system
Initially, keep the master control fully anticlockwise.
Now adjust the appropriate input level control (line,
mic, or aux) clockwise as far as possible, but without
triggering the red clip indicator while you play.
If several inputs are used simultaneously, the input
controls also determine the desired mixing ratio of
the individual sources. Also check the clip indicator
while playing through all inputs at the same time.
Level controls of any unused inputs should be set
fully anticlockwise.
After setting up the input levels you can adjust the
overall volume with the master control.
4. Starting up
4.1 Cabling and switching on
Before connecting to
mains, please ensure
that your local mains
voltage is suitable
for the voltage of the
device (e.g. 120V in the
USA, 230V in Europe). The relevant specs and safety
symbols are printed on the rear side of the unit.
Connect all cables according to your application
and switch the amplifier on. The green
power
con-
trol LED indicates operational readiness.
• The input level controls adapt the
AG
8
3
to
different sources in order to get the best possible
reproduction.
• If the input level setting is too low, the
AG
8
3
may
not reach the full volume or the signal to noise
ratio will be worse.
• Setting the input level too high causes distorted
sound. The clip indicator will warn you before this
happens.
• If you use an instrument with a volume control,
start off with full volume but reduce it if the clip
indicator lights up early and adjusting the input
level is difficult.
• Please ensure there is always enough battery po-
wer in your pick-up system. Humming and sizzling
can be caused by an empty battery.
5. Functional characteristics
5.1 Tone control
The two-band equalizer of your
AG
8
3
provides you
with an active and high quality sound interaction
tool that supports the natural tone of instruments
and voice whilst simultaneously offering you the
possibility of a controlled accentuation
If bass and treble are set to the center position, the
tone controls are neutral and have no influence on
the sound.
