Installation
• Choose a suitable location for the device. Suitable loca-
tions are dry, even and antislip surfaces on which you may
operate the device easily.
• Make sure there is proper ventilation for the device!
• Sensitive surfaces such as the display may be protected
by plastic foil. Remove this foil.
Power supply (Adaptor)
1. Make sure the grid voltage corresponds to the figures on
the rating plate.
2. Insert the grid plug into a properly installed three prong
socket. Connect the device with the plug connector by
inserting its plug into the DC 5 V jack of the device.
CAUTION:
• Only use the supplied power adaptor for this device.
Do not use for other devices.
• Only use power adaptor with 5 V (
), other adap-
tors may cause damage to the device.
NOTE:
Disconnect from mains power supply during longer peri-
ods of non-use.
Clock power reserve
(not supplied)
In case of a power failure or if the mains plug of the unit is
disconnected from the socket, the time is lost. If a power
reserve battery is inserted, the time is stored.
1. Remove the screw of the battery compartment.
2. Open the battery compartment.
3. Insert 2 type R 03 “AAA” 1.5 V batteries. Pay attention
to the correct polarity (indicated on the bottom of the
battery compartment)!
4. Close the battery compartment.
5. Secure the battery compartment with the screw.
WARNING:
The batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such
as sunshine, fire or the like.
Danger of explosion!
CAUTION:
• Batteries can leak battery acid. If the device is out of use
for a long period of time, remove the batteries.
• Different battery types or new and used batteries must
not be used together.
• Batteries are not to be disposed of together with
domestic wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at the
relevant collection bin or at your dealer’s.
First use
1. Fully extend the telescopic antenna. Stand it upright for
initial installation.
2. Switch the device on at the back of the device using the
ON OFF switch.
3. The device automatically searches for DAB stations.
“Sucht…” and a progress bar appears on the display.
The figure on the right of the display shows the number
of radio stations found. The first alphanumeric DAB
station is played.
When playing a radio station, the time and date is taken
from the broadcasting service. If the device does not
receive DAB stations in your location, set the time manu-
ally as described in “Setting the time manually”.
Changing the OSD language
The factory default of the OSD menu is German. To change
the language, proceed as follows:
1. Turn the device on.
2. Keep the MENU button pressed. The display shows
“VOLLE SUCHE” in DAB operation and the “Software
version” in FM or AUX operation.
3. Press the MENU button repeatedly until “SPRACHE
EINSTELL” appears.
4. Press the SELECT / SNOOZE / SLEEP button.
5. Select the desired language with the
/ TUNE
+
/
/ TUNE
–
buttons. Set it with the SELECT / SNOOZE /
SLEEP button.
NOTE:
The menu is described with the selected language “ENG-
LISH” in the instruction manual.
Setting the time manually
1. Turn the device on.
2. Keep the MENU button pressed. The display shows “Full
Scan” in DAB operation and the “Software version” in
FM or AUX operation.
3. Press the MENU button repeatedly until “Set Clock”
appears.
4. Press the SELECT / SNOOZE / SLEEP button. The display
shows “Clock: Radio”.
5. Use the
/ TUNE
+
button to select the “Clock: Manual”
option.
6. Confirm with the SELECT / SNOOZE / SLEEP button.
7. Now use the
/ TUNE
+
/
/ TUNE
–
buttons to set
the date and the time. Confirm each input with the
SELECT / SNOOZE / SLEEP button.
General operation
Switch the device on/off
• Switch the device on by setting the ON OFF switch on
the back of the device to ON.
