Answering Machine
Birdy has a built-in digital answering machine (without cassette) with a capac-
ity of maximum 14 minutes. It is remote controlled. Each message can last max-
imum 2 minutes.
8.1
Handsfree Operation
For all answering machine functions the unit is in Handsfree mode. The loud-
speaker of the handset is used for this purpose.
8.2
Answering Machine Operation Mode
To access the functions of the answering machine, proceed as follows:
1.
The phone is in standby mode (no tone).
2.
Press the program key

).
3.
ANSWERING is displayed.
4.
Press the program key
(

).
5.
WAITING is displayed for 2 seconds, followed by ANS OPER.
6.
Now you have access to all answering features (message recording, time
programming, security code, etc.).

Switching On/Off the Answering Machine
a) Switching On the Answering Machine
1.
Press the program key

) twice to access answering machine opera-
tion mode.
2.
The cassette icon
is displayed.
3.
Press the asterisk key
.
4.
The phone says ANRUFBEANTWORTER EIN (ANSWERING MACHINE ON).
5.
You hear three beeps, the answering machine is on.
NOTES:
The answering machine is on and answers calls after the set number of rings
or is in toll saving mode.
When the phone is switched off, it is still in ans recording or in answer-
ing only mode.
