1.7 Safety Precautions
Follow these simple precautions to protect yourself from harm and the
products from damage.
1. To avoid electrical shock, always disconnect the power from your
PC chassis before you work on it. Don't touch any components on
the CPU card or other cards while the PC is on.
2. Disconnect power before making any configuration changes. The
sudden rush of power as you connect a jumper or install a card may
damage sensitive electronic components.
3. Always ground yourself to remove any static charge before you
touch your CPU card. Be particularly careful not to touch the chip
connectors. Modern integrated electronic devices, especially CPUs
and memory chips, are extremely sensitive to static electrical
descharges and fields. Keep the card in its antistatic packaging
when it is not installed in the PC, and place it on a static dessipa-
tive mat when you are working with it. Wear a grounding wrist strap
for continuous protection.
1.8 Installing SDRAM (DIMMs)
The MIC-3389 provides two 168-pin DIMM sockets for the 3.3V
Registered PC-133 SDRAM with ECC. The approved SDRAM
modules are showed in Appendix C. Users can install a combination
of the DIMMs of any size, giving a total memory capacity up to 2 GB.
The procedure for the installing DIMMs is described below. Please
follow these steps carefully.
1. Confirm the memory module you plan to install meet the required
specifications.
2. Install the DIMM module. Install the DIMM so that its gold pins
point down into the DIMM socket.
3. Slip the DIMM into the socket and carefully fit the bottom of the
card against the connectors
4. Gently push the DIMM into the socket, until the clips on the ends
