ONFIGURATION
Insert the adapter in the desired serial port of the computer and connect the adapter’s cable to the
amplifier.
The program ADV.EXE is located on the diskette enclosed with the amplifier. To use the
software, first copy ADV.EXE to your hard disk.
1. To execute the program, at the DOS prompt type ADV.
2. Connect your serial interface cable to SSPA.
3. At the prompt, enter the COMM (serial) port number you are using (1, 2, 3 or 4).
NOTE: The protocol is 9600 baud, 7 bits and even parity (see
TABLE 6
at page 24).
4. Press the ‘F4’ function key. If the address of the unit is 0, you will have communication with
the unit. If not, press ‘F9’ and enter 1 when prompted. To change the address, first establish
communication with the unit and then go to the next steps.
5. Press the function key ‘F10’ twice to obtain Screen (menu) #3.
6. Select the ‘F7’ function key (COMSET) to configure the communication address for unit.
This is the number that will be used to identify the unit for monitor and control purposes.
7. At the prompt, enter a value from 0 through 15. Restart the unit. The new value for unit will
be assigned.
From this point on, to access this unit for monitor or control purposes, use the function key ‘F9’
on Screen (menu) #1. You will be prompted to enter the communication address of the unit.
Type ALT-X to exit the program.
