WARNING
:
Proper grounding of the AC power outlet is necessary for personnel and
equipment safety. Use the ground stud provided on the unit and on the base frame to properly
ground the entire system.
TABLE 4:
POWER (each unit)
Power Requirements
220 ± 10% VAC, 47-63 Hz
Power Consumption
9A typical @ 220 VAC
•
Discrete interface
connections are made via (J3) connector, located at the top of each unit.
Certain connections have to be performed on the Discrete Interface connector for proper
operation (read
5
INTERFACES at page 25).
CAUTION
:
Safety interlock is incorporated in the equipment.
If the Discrete Interface (J3) of one amplifier (single unit) is not intended to be used, disable
this interlock by connecting pin H with pin R at the discrete interface (J3) of each amplifier.
•
Serial Interface
connections are made via (J2) connectors located on the top of the each unit.
Use the cable provided to interconnect two Serial interfaces (J2) ports to the common Serial
Communication port (P1) located on the Main Frame, if RS-485 common interface is used.
Independent RS-422 interface is also supported, so each unit may be connected to one
computer via its serial interface connector (J2). Each unit has an address assigned, i.e. 0 or 1.
By selecting the proper address, communication with each unit can be established. To change
the communication addresses see
Section 7.3.3
Software Configuration
at page 33. Refer to
TABLE 9
at page 33 for pin assignments of Serial Interface (P1).
CAUTION:
The communications protocol for the serial interface is RS-422. To use the
standard IBM
®
compatible personal computer (running DOS 3.1 or higher) with an RS-232
serial port, you must use an RS-422/RS-232 adapter (provided as an option). The software can
be used to control up to 16 different units.
•
Redundant Interface
connections are made via (J6) connector of each unit. Use the cable
provided to interconnect two (J6) ports to the waveguide switch. Follow instructions on the
labels on the cable.
