2.1. Mounting the wind vane-gauge cable
It is recommended to mount the wind vane-gauge cable before mounting the boat's
mast.
The wind vane-gauge sensor bracket, at one end of the cable, must be installed on the
masthead as follows:
•
The base of the bracket must be placed horizontally.
•
The arm of the wind vane-gauge sensor must be directed towards the front,
parallel to the boat's axis.
•
Fix the bracket to the masthead using the 2 Ø 4 mm screws.
•
Drill a hole of Ø 6 mm through the masthead, near the bracket, so as to
insert the cable inside the mast.
•
Drill a hole of Ø 6 mm on the lower part of the mast for exiting the cable.
•
Position a watertight junction box (Option on
www.advansea.com
) close to
the mast base, in order to connect the wind vane-gauge sensor cable, and
facilitate future dismasting.
•
Calculate the required length of cable between the sensor bracket and the
junction box. Add a few centimetres to attach the cable in the junction box.
•
Cut the sensor cable to the measured length and retain the part equipped
with the overmoulded connector.
•
Insert the sensor cable through the hole in the masthead, and slide it down
the groove for masthead cables, exiting through the hole at the base of the
mast. Fix the cable to the masthead using a cable grip and seal the holes
drilled in the mast using silicone sealant.
•
Connect the part of the sensor cable fitted with the overmoulded connector
to the WIND display cable, and install this cable in the junction box at the
base of the mast (option on www.advansea.com).
•
Insert the 2 ends of the sensor cable in the junction box at the base of the
mast (option on www.advansea.com), strip the wires and connect the two
cables respecting the wire colours.
•
Close the junction box at the base of the mast (option sur
www.advansea.com), ensuring it is watertight.
•
If you have decided not to install the junction box at the base of the mast,
solder the wire together respecting the colours and ensuring they are
insulated from each other. Also ensure that this assembly is watertight by
means of systems such as sealed heat-retractable sheaths. AdvanSea shall
not be held liable under the warranty for improper connections in this
location without the use of the junction box at the base of the mast (option
at www.advansea.com)
