Cabling and Configuration
Connect the HSSDC end of the cable to the Adaptec Fibre Channel controller in
the host system. The RAIDstation Fibre Channel Storage Array automatically
applies termination to the loop so no external terminators are required.
Cabling Multiple RAIDStation7 Fibre Channel Storage Arrays
with a Single Port Bypass Circuit
This section describes the procedure for daisy-chaining Storage Arrays together.
The first Storage Array in the loop is connected to the host system and all subse-
quent Storage Arrays are connected together in a daisy-chain configuration.
Connect the first Storage Array in the loop to the host system as described in the
previous section, “Cabling A Single RAIDStation7 Fibre Channel Storage
Array”. To connect a second shelf to the loop, a Fibre Channel cable is needed
with DB-9 male connections on both ends.
Attach one of the DB-9 connectors on the Fibre Channel cable to the connector
marked Output on the port bypass circuit of the first shelf. Attach the other end of
this cable to the connector marked Input on the port bypass circuit of the second
shelf (see Figure 3-3). The last shelf on the loop does not require an external ter-
minator, as the RAIDstation Fibre Channel Storage Array automatically applies
termination.
