SERVICING

RECOMMENDATION

ACV recommend that boilers should be serviced at least once a year.
The burner must be serviced and tested by a competent engineer.

SERVICING THE  BOILER

(see illustration K)

1 - Switch the power off at the external isolator and close fuel

supply valve.

2 - Set the on/off switch on the control panel to the OFF position.
3 - Release and remove the chimney flue (24) to free the top of the

boiler.

4 - Remove the jacket top (1) and lift off the flue reducer (6).
5 - Remove the baffles (9) from the flue pipes (10) for cleaning.

Replace them if they are in poor condition.

6 - Remove the chamber plate (17).
7 - Brush the flue pipes (10).
8 - Clean the burner chamber (13) and the burner (15).
9 - Check the insulation on the chamber plate (17)

SERVICING THE SAFETY DEVICES

- Check that all thermostats and safety devices are working properly:

boiler thermostat, cut-off thermostat and manually reset safety
thermostat.

- Check the safety valves on both the central heating and the hot

water circuits.

SERVICING THE  BURNER

- If necessary, remove the flame holder and clean it.
- Remove the nozzle and change it if necessary

(if the filter is

clogged, etc.)

EMPTYING THE  BOILER

(see illustration G)

Beware, very hot water!

FILLING THE HEATING AND DOMESTIC
HOT WATER CIRCUITS

(see illustration B)

1.

Fill the domestic hot water circuit and bring it up to pressure.

IMPORTANT
The hot water tank must be pressurised before the
heating circuit is filled.

2.

Fill the heating circuit taking care not to exceed the 2 bar
pressure limit.

3.

Bleed the air from the top of the boiler.

4.

After bleeding the air out of the system, bring the pressure up to
the static head: 1.5 bar = 10 m – 2 bar =15 m.

5.

Check the power connection, the boiler room ventilation and
ensure that there are no leaks in the flue gas discharge pipes.

6.

Set the boiler thermostat to between 60 and 90 °C (1).

7.

Set the Summer/Winter selector switch (3) to the desired position.

8.

Switch the on/off switch (2) to the ON position.

COMISSIONING OF THE ACV
BM 1 LN 1 - BURNER

1.

Adjust the position of the combustion head:
Leave 4 mm between the nozzle and the diffuser plate and
position the ignition electrode half way between the two.
Set the nozzle line to position 2.5.
Connect the pressure gauge to the oil pump and check the oil
pressure.

2.

Check that there is oil in the oil filter pot.

ATTENTION :
If the diameter of the oil pipe between the oil tank and
the burner is too large then operating problems can
result. Nowadays, the distance between the oil tank
and the burner tends to become shorter and shorter.
In fact, in recent systems, it is common for a
polyethylene oil tank to be less than 15 metres away
from, and at the same height as the boiler.
Consequently, the diameter of the burner oil supply
pipe can be reduced. ACV recommends diameters of
6/8 or 8/10

(see charts of the burner manufacturer).

3.

Disconnect the burner air supply pipe and loosen the primary
strangler. Maintain the strangler in position 1, and start the boiler.
Once the burner is ignited

(flame appearing in the combustion

chamber)

, open the strangler gradually until it reaches its fully-

open position. Leave the boiler on for 2 minutes, then shut it off.

A decreasing oil level in the filter pot falls while the
burner is started, indicater a faulty fuel connection is.

4.

Connect the air supply pipe to the burner, then start the boiler in
order to complete the CO

2

setting, which will depend on the

outside temperature

(see technical documentation)

.

5.

Once the CO

2

has been set correctly, check that the burner

starts properly by carrying out several tests.
