Check the Battery
This vehicle comes with an absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery that is mounted in the trunk.
To ensure long battery life and that the client gets a fully charged battery, you must check it at these times:
•
When the vehicle first arrives at the dealership
•
During the TQI (if done at a later date)
•
At regular intervals (if stored)
•
Just before vehicle delivery
If you plan to keep the vehicle in long-term storage, be sure to remove the No. 17 BACKUP MAIN (10 A) fuse.
Test the battery with the ED-18 battery tester using S/B 88-023,
Battery Testing and Replacement
. Make sure the ED-18
has the latest software installed before using it. See S/B 09-045,

NOTE:
•
When charging an AGM battery,
always
select
AGM
. Serious damage can result if you select
FLOODED (FLA)
.
Also, make sure the negative battery lead is connected to the negative battery post. The temperature probe is in the
handle of the negative lead. The GR8 battery diagnostic station monitors battery temperature during charging so
that it does not overheat and destroy the battery.
•
Always check the battery cables and terminal tightness when testing the battery.
•
All battery testing with a GR8 or an ED-18 must be done at the battery in the trunk.
•
You can jump start this vehicle, but you cannot jump another vehicle using the under-hood jump start terminals
.
•
Make sure not to damage or misplace any items in the trunk when testing the battery.
If the ED-18 does not show
GOOD BATTERY
or shows
GR8 DIAGNOSTIC NEEDED
, you must charge the battery with
the GR8. Make sure the GR8 has the latest software installed before using it. See S/B 09-060,
