Mbps. E1 is the rate used by European CEPT carriers to transmit 32 64 Kb/s channel,
30 of them used for voice and data calls. A PCM system, E1 is used throughout the
world with the exception of North America and Japan.
Also known as 120R.
The E1 link complies with the ITU-T recommendations G.703/G704. It is the
interface between the ITS and the backhaul network (switch).
