Remote Diagnostic Management
RDM 5.1
Remote Diagnostic Management ( RDM ) is a network management tool that utilizes modems and
telephone system to manage a server from a remote station. It allows the administrator to remotely control
the managed server when NOS ( Network Operation System ) is not available. There are two cases that
NOS is not available:POST ( Power On Self Test ) and NOS crashes. When POST, RDM can provide a
console redirection feature for remote administrator. And, if the NOS hangs up, ROM can automatically
reboot the server or allow the administrator to control the server from remote station. This RDM capability
bridges the distance barrier in fixing server problems and reduces down time due to system failure.
