Put the brake cable through the cable slot on the end of the left
brake arm.Always make sure that the cable is properly seated in the
cable slot. Then slip the brake cable boot over the cable and position
it between both brake arms.
Adjusting the brake pads
Squeeze the
brake arms
against the rim, loosen the nuts on the
brake pads and adjust until they match the angle of the rim.
Brake
pads
clearance should be a maximum 2 mm from the rim. When
correct, tighten the pad nuts.
Adjusting the brake cable
If the brake is not tight, you need to adjust the brake cable. Loosen
the cable
fixing bolt
.While holding the brake arm closed, use your
other hand to pull the
brake cable
tight (through the
cable fixing
bolt
),tighten the cable fixing bolt fully with a M5 allen wrench. Hold
the brake lever to test if the V brake can work properly. If not, adjust
again.
Adjusting
the brake arms
The two brake arms must be nearly parallel to each other. To make
this adjustment, adjust the spring tension in each brake arm so that
both sides are equally tensioned. And each brake pad is the same
distance from the rim. Do this by turning the spring tension screw
with a Phillips screwdriver.
After ensuring that the total clearance between both brake pads
and the rim is 2-3mm stretches the cable by squeezing the brake
lever 5-10 times. Then readjust the brakes as necessary.
