6. Troubleshooting
DVR is not receiving power or not Powering up
Verify that the power adapter cable is plugged into the DVR and wired to a reliable power source. If the DVR is wired to an ignition
source, check that the ignition is set to the ON position.
Make sure you are using the correct power adapter for the DVR. If the power adapter does not provide sufficient power for the DVR, it
may prevent the system from powering up or detecting the hard drive.
Confirm there is power at the DVR. Test for voltage at the DVR plug. If there is no voltage, connect wires to a different power source.
No Picture on Monitor after Connecting it to the DVR
Video cable is loose or has become disconnected. Check the video cable connection to your monitor.
Monitor not detected by DVR. Power off the monitor and DVR. Power on the monitor first, and then power on the DVR.
Monitor input channel for DVR is not selected. Select the input channel your DVR is connected to.
DVR is set to a resolution that is unsupported by monitor.
Remote Control is not Detected by the DVR
Battery in the remote control is weak or dead. Replace the remote control battery.
Line of sight between the DVR and remote control is blocked. Make sure there are no objects blocking the IR receiver on the front panel
and the remote control. The remote works best when lockable cover is OPEN.
Camera is not Detected by the DVR
Camera cable is not connected to the DVR. Firmly connect the camera cable to an AV IN port on the DVR.
Camera is not detected by DVR. Disconnect and reconnect the camera. If this does not work, restart the DVR.
Hard Drive is not Detected by the DVR
Wrong power adapter being used with the DVR or bad cable connection. If the power adapter does not provide sufficient power for the
DVR, the DVR may be able to power up, but it may not have enough power to operate the SD card writer. See DVR is not receiving
power or not Powering up for details on ensuring you are using the correct power adapter.
SD Card is not properly inserted. Remove the SD Card and re-insert in the SD card slot, making sure to push all the way in until you feel
it “click” into place.
There is no SD card in the device. Install a SD card into the DVR. Device will automatically format most SD cards once a new SD card is
inserted.
NOTE
- Formatting the hard drive will erase all data saved on the SD Card
The DVR is no Longer Recording
All inserted SD cards have been removed. Insert SD card in SD Card Slot 1.
Overwrite is not enabled. Check your DVR Manual for details on enabling overwrite or “Loop Recording”.
Hard Drive is not Full and the DVR is not Recording
You must manually format the hard drive using the DVR before the DVR will record. Check your DVR Manual for details.
NOTE
- Formatting the hard drive will erase all data saved on the hard drive.
No Picture on Selected Channels or Camera Picture is not being Displayed
Camera cables are loose or have become disconnected.
Camera cables are not connected to AV IN ports.
DVR Video IN ports have become damaged. Move the camera(s) to a different channel.
There may be an issue with the camera or camera extension cable. Try using a different extension cable or camera.
There is a Picture, but no Sound
Channels with audio are not selected. Select channels with audio input enabled to hear sound.
No audio-capable cameras are connected to the DVR. Audio-capable cameras are required to use audio functionality.
DVR channels have not been enabled for audio. Check your DVR Manual for instructions on enabling audio channels.
External speakers are off or volume is turned down. Ensure external speakers are on and increase volume on external speakers.
