1 Identification
The ready-to-use MIG/MAG welding torch consists of:
• Cable assembly with equipment
• Cable support
• Torch neck, e. g. ROBO 455 with equipment and wear parts.
Together, the components form a fully-functional unit that provides an arc for welding when
supplied with the appropriate consumables. For welding, a wire electrode is fed through the
welding torch system and the arc and the molten pool are protected by the inert gas (MIG) and
the active gas (MAG). The wire electrode is a consumable solid or fluxed-core wire fed through
the contact tip. The contact tip transfers the welding current to the wire electrode. The arc is
formed between the wire electrode and the workpiece.
