5.5 Installation of the pressure relief ducts
The pressure relief ducts and the end covers
are to be installed in accordance with the
assembly drawings supplied with the panels.
5.6 Assembly of the voltage transformers
(Figures 5/7 to 5/15)
•
Remove the protective caps supplied from the
silicone parts and store them for later use
•
Check the silicone parts on the voltage
transformers (figure 5/7) for damage. Observe
the notes in section 5.2.2
•
Clean and grease the silicone parts as described
in section 5.2.2
•
Clear the insertion area, remove the plastic
covers (figure 5/8) and store them. Remove
any secondary wiring from the insertion area
•
Clean the mating piece for the silicone part
the socket as described in section 5.2.2
•
If necessary, assemble the hexagon pins
(figures 5/12)
•
Slowly and carefully insert the transformers
into the sockets (figure 5/9). Always ensure
that the transformer is guided in vertically
(do not tilt or tip it). The plug-in connection
must slide easily into the corresponding socket.
Check the position of the silicone parts in
relation to the socket continuously and correct
if necessary. A counter-pressure will become
noticeable approx. 20 mm before the limit
position is reached (figure 5/10)
- Case 1: Voltage transformers for feeder
metering and metering panels, panel width
800 mm (figure 5/11)
When the mounting plate has been fastened
to the hexagon pins, the voltage transformer
is to be evenly tightened across the diagonal
until the mechanical stop is reached (max.
tightening torque 15 Nm).
- Case 2: Voltage transformers for busbar
metering (sectionaliser or riser panel), panel
width 800 mm (figure 5/12)
(The panels are delivered with transformers
assembled.)
The voltage transformer is to be pressed
into the socket with the aid of a jack (use
the reinforcement plate below the transformers)
and screwed to the hexagon pins, evenly
across the diagonal, up to the mechanical
stop (max.tightening torque 15 Nm).
•
Where possible, wipe off any surplus grease
which emerges

Connect the wiring for the secondary
connections and the earthing of the
voltage transformer in accordance with
the circuit diagrams.
Check that all terminal screws including
the earthing screws are tightly fastende.
The screws marked in figure 5/13 establish
the earthing connections to the relevant
cable terminals.
Releasing the earthing screw on the 'N'
terminal leads to potentially fatal high
voltage at the terminal while the voltage
transformers are in operation!
•
Fit the lid on the cover and the burdon resistor
if required
5.7 Connection of cables and wiring
The cable compartments (3.0) in the panels are
fitted with cable connection fittings in accordance
with the cable types and sizes specified in the
project planning for the switchgear as a whole.
5.7.1 High voltage XLPE cable with plug-in
connectors
(Figures 3/2, 3/7, 5/14, 5/15)
•
Lay the XLPE cables as specified in the project
planning to the individual panels
•
Remove the transport covers fitted to protect
the sockets
•
Expose the cable cores, check the correct line
assignment, and secure
•
Fit current sensors if appropriate
•
Fit cable plug (3.4) in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions
•
Fit the plugs to the sockets (1.7) mounted in
the circuit breaker compartment floor (without
opening the insulating gas compartment) and
secure them with bolts
•
Fasten current sensors or current transformers
if appropriate
•
Close off any unused sockets (1.7), e.g. in spare
panels, with suitable cable blanking plugs to
ensure the necessary insulation
5.7.2 Control cables and wiring
•
Establish the necessary connections for incoming
and outgoing cables and wiring, and cross
connections
•
The connections from panel to panel are to be
made by plug connectors in the control cabinets
5.8 Final erection work
•
Clean the external surfaces of the enclosure
and control cabinets in the switchgear where
necessary and check for any damage to the
paintwork, touching up with a suitable paint if
necessary (see Section 7.3.3)
•
Properly refit any cladding and covers of operating
mechanisms, cable ducts, etc. Removed during
the erection work
•
Remove all tools and other foreign bodies from
the switchgear
•
Check the general condition of the switchgear
•
Check that the areas adjacent to the switchgear
are in the proper condition
