3.3.4 Making the electrical connections 

1. Mount the cable gland

Approved cable glands are available from ABB for 1/2 NPT or M20 x 1.5 threads. 

Screw in the appropriate Ex-d cable gland and fix it with glue to secure it against loosen-
ing. Loctite 242 or similar glues are suitable. 

Proceed as seen in the illustrations below:

WARNING

Exclusively use EMC cable glands with full Ex-d approval for EEx d 
operation. Do not use partly approved cable glands labeled "U". 
They are NOT sufficient.
The cable shield has to be applied in the cable entry.

Fastening the cable gland 1/2 NPT

Apply the glue (Loctite 242 or similar) to
the two last thread windings, approxi-
mately 7 mm from the end of the thread
(see gray arrow in the illustration).

Insert the cable gland in the threaded
hole of the positioner housing and fas-
ten it with the appropriate tool.
