Replacing the battery

Replace the battery as follows:

Replace the battery – see Figure 4.

Note.  Ensure the battery 

positive terminal faces the 

rear of the recorder.

Refit the main board – see Figure 3.

Refit the PCB locking bar and chassis top cover –  
see Figure 5.

Refit the recorder to its case – see Figure 1.

Restore the recorder’s power supply.

Set the date and time – see Section 6.4.3 in the SM1000 User 
Guide (

IM/SM1000

) or Section 4.4.3 in the SM2000 User 

Guide (

IM/SM2000

).

Removing the main board

 CAUTION

The recorder is vulnerable to electrostatic damage. Wear an 
anti-static strap or dismantle the recorder on an anti-static 
workbench. 

Remove the main board as follows:

Isolate the recorder from the power supply.

Remove the recorder from its case – see Figure 6.

Note.  Refitting is the reverse of removal.

Withdraw the recorder 

from its case

Unscrew the 

jacking screw

Remove tamper-evident seal (if fitted).

Caution.  Do not break the tamper-evident 

seal  unless authorized to do so.
