Client / Server

The Modbus TCP messaging service provides a Client/Server communication between devices connected on an 
Ethernet TCP/IP network. The device initiating the communication (e.g. a PLC) is called the client.  

The device answering the request is called the server (the MTQ22-FBP.0 in this case).

Master / Slave

Master/slave is a model of communication where one device e.g. a PLC has control over one or more other devices 

(here MTQ22-FBP.0 and UMC). In the Modbus TCP context, the master is the client and the slave is the server.

Medium Access Control

MAC Address

Unique address of every Ethernet device. The MAC address of the MTQ22-FBP.0 is printed on the nameplate.
