You can use the
vcx-licensequery --all
command to display
information about the currently installed VCX software license, for
example, serial number, customer name, expiration date, and number of
supported phone and IP Messaging clients.
Backing Up License
Files
3Com
strongly
recommends that users save copies of their license key
files in a separate safe location. If any VCX server experiences a disk
failure or any other problem that requires the VCX software to be
reinstalled, the license key file will be available during that process.
Keeping Your License
Key Valid
VCX software license keys are generated based on the machineid of the
logical partition (for System i) or the server (for other servers).
For iSeries servers, the machineid is based on the server along with the
physical and virtual adapters that are associated with the logical partition
(LPAR). CPU and memory resources are not considered in order that users
can adjust the CPU and memory resources as needed without changing
the machineid and thereby invalidating the license.
For all other servers, the machineid is based on several elements of the
hardware environment. Disks are excluded so that if you replace a failed
disk, your machineid does not change and your license remains valid.
