Troubleshooting the Configuration System
If the system runs normally at power-on, the boot information is displayed on the configuration terminal.
If the configuration system is faulty, the terminal screen may display nothing or garbled characters.
No Display on the Terminal Screen
Symptom
The configuration terminal displays nothing at power-on.
Solution
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem:
Step1
Check the power supply for anomalies.
Step2
Check the console cable for loose connection.
Step3
If no problem is found, check the following:
z
The serial port to which the console cable is connected is not the one configured in the emulation
program.
z
Terminal settings are incorrect. The required settings are 9600 bits per second, 8 data bits, 1 stop
bit, no flow control, and VT100 for terminal emulation type.
z
The console cable is not in good condition.
Garbled Characters Displayed on the Terminal Screen
Symptom
After the device is powered on, the configuration terminal displays illegible characters.
Solution
If the “Data bits” field is set to 5 or 6 in the emulation program, illegible characters appear on the screen.
Set this field to the default value 8.
Serial Port Response Failure
Symptom
The serial port gives no response.
Solution
Check that the cable is in good condition and the serial port settings are correct.
