ATTENTION
The existing configuration of your VMG8825 will be deleted, and current connec-
tions to the Internet or telephone calls will be disconnected.
Your VMG8825 then restarts as a modem with the factory settings.
The user interface can now be reached exclusively via the Ethernet port

.
Connecting a router/firewall
Connect the downstream device (e.g., router or firewall) to the Ethernet port
LAN2
of the VMG8825 (see figure below). In modem mode, only one device can be con-
nected to the VMG8825.
Access to the user interface
In modem mode, access to the user interface of the VMG8825 occurs only via the
Ethernet port

. You can query the status of the DSL modem here and per-
form a firmware update, for example.
