Trigger Port Configuration
Port forwarding only forwards a service to a single LAN IP address. In order to use the
same service on a different LAN computer, you have to manually replace the LAN
computer's IP address in the forwarding port with another LAN computer's IP
address.
Trigger port forwarding solves this problem by allowing computers on the LAN to
dynamically take turns using the service. The trigger port is a port (or a range of ports)
that causes (or triggers) the device to record the IP address of the LAN computer that
sent the traffic to a server on the WAN.
a. Create a Trigger Port entry
1.
Go to
Network > NAT > Trigger Port.
2.
Choose a
Sevice Name
, e.g. “Aim Talk”.
3.
Choose a
WAN Interface
, e.g. “ipoe_0_0_33_1/atm0_1”.
4.
Set the
Trigger Port
range.
5.
Configure the
Protocol
to “TCP”, “UDP”, or “TCP/UDP”.
6.
Set the
Trigger Port
range.
7.
Configure the
Protocol
to “TCP”, “UDP”, or “TCP/UDP”.
8.
Click
Add.
