12 DHCP

Server

12.1 Overview

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, RFC 2131 and RFC 2132) allows
individual clients to obtain TCP/IP configuration at start-up from a server. You can
configure the MWR211’s LAN as a DHCP server or disable it. When configured as
a server, the MWR211 provides the TCP/IP configuration for the clients. If DHCP
service is disabled, you must have another DHCP server on your LAN, or else the
computer must be manually configured.

12.2

What You Can Do

•

Use the General screen to enable the DHCP server.

•

Use the Advanced screen to assign IP addresses on the LAN to specific individual
computers based on their MAC Addresses.

Use this screen to enable the DHCP server. Click Network > DHCP Server. The
following screen displays.
