ZXSDR BS8800 Technical Manual
1+1 backup mode, occupy a 6U GCM shelf and adopt an indepen-
dent Backplane of GCM (BGCM).
GE - Gigabit Ethernet
GPS - Global Positioning System
HDLC - High-level data link control
HDLC is a bit-oriented data link layer protocol. The bit-oriented
feature involves taking a bit (not character) as a basic transmission
unit and controlling information. The data frame format is similar
to control frame format, and has good transmission transparency
and high efficiency.
IP - Internet Protocol
LAC - Link Access Control
MAC - Media Access Control
MS - Mobile Station
MSC - Mobile Switching Center
MTBF - Mean Time Between Failure
PCF - Packet Control Function
PCF is a board which is responsible for the data selection between
multiple reverse traffic channels and data distribution from a for-
ward traffic channel to multiple cells/sectors during soft handoff.
PDC - Personal Digital Cellular System
PDSN - Packet Data Service Node
A Packet Data Serving Node is responsible for the establishment,
maintenance and termination of a PPP (Point to Point Protocol) ses-
sion towards the MS (Mobile Station). It may also assign dynamic
IP addresses in addition to supporting Mobile IP functionality. It
provides a similar function to the GSN (GPRS Support Nodes) found
in GSM and UMTS networks.
PM - Power Module
PPP - Point to Point Protocol
A protocol for communication that allows two devices to transport
packets over a data connection, such as a personal computer con-
nected by phone line to a server.
RLP - Radio Link Protocol
RRU - Remote Radio Unit
RSU - RF System Unit
SA - Site Alarm Module
SNP - Signaling Network Protocol
TCP - Transmission Control Protocol
TCP/IP - Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol
A communications protocol that has become the de facto standard
protocol for the Internet. TCP provides transport functions, en-
suring that the total amount of data sent is correctly received. IP
provides the routing mechanism, ensuring the information reaches
the correct destination.
